Disappointing news to share today amidst our excitement for Trish Stratus week, hot of the trails of Trish Stratus month last month in March leading up her her Hall of Fame induction this weekend. It was STRONGLY speculated that Lita would potentially be Trish’s Hall of Fame inductor given their parallel and historic careers together. Ultimate-Amy.org has been posting any and all news regarding it and dedicated a lot of updates to looking back at Lita vs Trish, Friends & Foes and this past weekend, we reported what seemed like Trish actually denying that Lita would be her Hall of Fame inductor. When it was brought up that what has been widely rumored was that Stratus’s close friend Lita would be inducting her to which Trish’s response was: “That’s not the case. I have someone and you’ll just have to wait; that’s obviously been swirling around, the Lita speculation. It was a difficult choice.”

Well that soon enough has come as of yesterday when it appeared as if Trish Stratus and Stephanie McMahon began tweeting a series of tweets to one another regarding the brief moments that their own careers crossed back in 2001 with the two tweeting about Easter, then about their matches and slaps and possibly having a rematch at Wrestlemania 30. All of that led to Trish asking Stephanie to induct her into the Hall of Fame. Take a look: “I’d be honored if @StephMcMahon would be a part of the biggest night of my career & inducts me into @WWE #HOF, Steph will you do me the honor?” to which Stephanie replied: “@trishstratuscom: Yes!!! It would be my pleasure to induct one of the greatest Divas of all time in to the #WWEHOF #overwhelmed #honored”. Trish then rubbed dirt in the wounds retweeting fans and making other tweets in regards to the two being the most impactful women in wrestling together, blah blah blah. It seems as if, like it always has, that Amy/Lita has been pushed aside as far as the huge impact she’s had on Trish’s career and vice versa of her for Lita’s. I guess it will be interesting to see what she has to say about her this Saturday, if she even mentions her much at all.

I’ve been reading fan reactions and getting comments about it. I agree with most that Trish’s choice is confusing and perhaps doesn’t make very much sense from the stand point of Trish’s WWE career from what fans could see and know. The only times their careers crossed paths was in 2000 when Lita was actually the one feuding Stephanie and Trish in different storylines and both Trish and Steph were bad girls and then again in 2001 when Trish took her role further as the bad girl, Trish the “witch”, among other choice adjectives during the storyline where Trish was having “relations” with Stephanie’s father and thus led to a feud with the two where to sum it up, Trish was humiliated time after time, having sewage dumped on her and barking like a dog on her knees. What a career highlight. Trish claims that once we hear her speech, it will be clear as to why she chose who she did.

My only guess is that Trish, who has always been “WWE’s manufactured golden girl” will continue that by choosing a person who has a hand in a lot of what happens in the WWE and I think it may have more to do with the hype of it or behind the scenes of what “Stephanie” has done to give opportunities, etc. etc. I’m not trying to express how upset I am with the choice because I know Trish and Amy/Lita are good friends in real life and I’m sure Amy is not upset with the choice, I wouldn’t imagine she is but I think a lot of fans feel like it’s a slap in the face to her (Lita) given the level that the two former Divas reached together. I guess the only thing to hope for is that when it comes time for Lita’s own Hall of Fame induction, she chooses someone larger than life than Trish even if it doesn’t make sense for her actual career. And no, let’s not hope it’s Stephanie McMahon who inducting Lita would make more sense because of their history than it does her inducting Trish but let’s hope Lita chooses… someone say… like… CM Punk or someone : P

Anyway, I guess this confirms that Trish did deny that Lita would be her Hall of Fame inductor as assumed, not an April Fool’s joke. I guess we were all hoping for an APRIL FOOLS after it was all said and done but it’s not. I’m still happy for Trish and the honor and all of that and we may not be seeing Lita at the Hall of Fame inducting Trish but I’m sure she’ll be there in the audience like last year for support and being apart of Wrestlemania weekend. Amy confirmed on her Twitter that she was on her way to NY/NJ tweeting today: “Ready early to head up for WM week. Somehow, I’ll still manage to be late #FashionablyLate always. I am the worst. Yesterday she tweeted that she was at the Braves opening game.
